Cecily Tynan is Celebrity Chair for Radnor Run

Cecily Tynan, 6ABC weeknight meterologist and Radnor Run's celebrity chairperson, gets ready to run. Next to her is her husband, Greg Watson. Watson came in first overall in the men's division, while his wife, a former Wayne resident, won her age division. His reward after the race: a kiss by Tynan during his trophy presentation.
From a press release
Wayne, PA—The American Lung Association announces that ABC Action News Meteorologist, Cecily Tynan, has signed on to be the Celebrity Chairperson for the annual Penn Medicine Radnor Run again this year.  Tynan has served as the Chair for the past two years and has won her age category in the 5-mile race that is set to take place October 27, 2013, beginning at 8:30 a.m..  Her husband, Greg Watson, has come out to support the efforts as well.  Watson won the Overall Male trophy last year.

Says Tynan: “I hope runners of all ages and abilities join me for this year’s Radnor Run. It is a great course: challenging hills through beautiful neighborhoods. Proceeds go to the American Lung Association, so you will be running for a great cause!”

The Radnor Run planning committee is working on logistics for the fall event.  They are also still currently looking for sponsors to join in.  Sponsor benefit opportunities include a table at the event, logos on t-shirts, brochures, website and banners, complimentary registrations and more.  “This is a wonderful community event.  We expect 1,000 participants this year, so sponsors gain great visibility to a strong audience when they get involved in the Penn Medicine Radnor Run.” says Christy Dernlan, event manager and Development Director for the American Lung Association.

Some of the sponsors already signed on this year include Brandywine Realty Trust, The Radnor Hotel, Bio Med Realty, Enterprise, Good Shepherd Penn Partners and The Agnes Irwin School and Penn Medicine.  In addition to sponsorship support, a number of local companies organize a team to participate.  Schools also can compete for the Top School Trophy, which is awarded to the school who brings out the most combined participants and volunteers.

Runners, companies, schools, families, friends, and community partners will take on this challenging 5- mile USA Track and Field sanctioned & certified course to help improve the lives of the Pennsylvanians currently living with chronic lung diseases. The top female runner will win Jody’s Cup, the award in memory of Radnor Township resident Jody Lynn Sack and the top male runner will receive The Penn Medicine Award.
If the five mile run is too daunting try the one mile fun run/walk.  Medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers and the first 100 kids to cross the finish line.

When the race is over enjoy face painting, balloon sculptures, goodies, and more with the entire family.  To continue the awareness of lung health, Presenting Sponsor Penn Medicine will also be holding a health fair at the start/finish of the race.
